Trauma Care

Trauma care refers to the specialized medical attention given to individuals who have sustained severe injuries, often from accidents or trauma, requiring immediate and focused treatment to stabilize their condition and prevent further damage, typically provided by a team with specialized expertise.

Here at Millennium Behavior Health Services, we provide trauma-informed care with a holistic wellness approach. We don’t just focus on the main reason for seeking services but any comorbidities and co-occurence that may have placed you in the position that you are in. We also provide a trauma-focused model of treatment and care for individuals in recovery. We offer workplace reasonable accommodations.

What is Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?

Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based treatment approach that helps individuals overcome the negative effects of traumatic experiences by utilizing cognitive behavioral techniques to address trauma-related symptoms like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), addiction and emotional distress; it involves teaching coping skills, gradually exposing them to trauma reminders, and processing traumatic experiences in a supportive environment.

What is Trauma-Informed Care?

A trauma-informed approach to care acknowledges that we, your care team, need to have a complete picture of a patient’s life situation — past and present — in order to provide effective health care services with a healing orientation. Adopting trauma-informed practices can potentially improve patient engagement, treatment adherence, and health outcomes, as well as provider and staff wellness. It can also help reduce avoidable care and excess costs for both the health care and social service sectors.

What is Trauma-Responsive Care?

Trauma responsivity is the point at which planning and action take place and procedures are reconsidered with the intent to better accommodate those with trauma backgrounds. Clients begin to more concretely apply trauma foundations to their behaviors and practices in their specific roles. Language is embedded throughout the infrastructure that corresponds with safety, choice, collaboration, trustworthiness, and empowerment. In trauma responsivity, universal screening for trauma takes place, and trauma-specific assessment and treatment are offered to those who need them.
